The Australian Seabird Rescue, Research, Rehabilitation and Coastal Education Centre in Ballina offers a comprehensive educational experience for people of all ages.
All presentations include a one hour informative talk by one of their trained volunteers, as well as a chance to see wildlife that may be in their care. Animals that you may get the opportunity to get a close-up look at may include pelicans, other sea birds, shore birds, and even the fascinating and endangered sea turtles.
As well as hosting school holiday tours, Australian Seabird Rescue run group tours (for 10 or more) at any time and can also provide morning tea or lunch.
The tour goes for approximately one hour and costs $8 per person.
An Australian Seabird Rescue team member will talk to people about the life-saving work they do, display photos of rescues and releases and show how they catch injured birds. Then it’s out to the sea turtle nest display to learn about sea turtles nesting on our beaches in the Summer.
The interactive tour is suitable for all age groups and most young children are totally enthralled by the presentation and the chance to be involved in the fun demonstrations.
