Yuulong Lavender Estate is a relaxing spot to visit with picturesque lavender fields in Mount Egerton, Victoria, only 50 minutes from Melbourne, just off the Western freeway, and 25 minutes from historical Ballarat.
They are open to the public on weekends and public holidays (except Christmas Day and ANZAC day) from mid August to mid May (refer to website for seasonal dates and ticketed event days). Group, club and coach bookings are welcome on weekdays by prior arrangement.
In June 2013, Yuulong Lavender Estate changed owners from Rosemary Holmes and Edythe Anderson to Debbie Macfarlane, and Sharyn & Tony Jury. The gift shop and licensed cafe has undergone extensive redecorating creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, serving light meals and treats plus delicious coffee using locally roasted beans by the award winning Bean Barn in Ballarat. A full range of quality lavender products, crafts and preserves made here on the farm are available to sample and purchase.
Feel free to wander through the lavender fields and the cottage gardens with flowerbeds changing in colour from spring to autumn. A family of kangaroos lives on the property and they have a small walk-in bird aviary. Plenty of fantastic photo opportunities!
Group tours can be arranged, demonstrating the workings of the lavender farm at a small fee for adults and seniors, with children under 14 years free. The tour includes a walk through the lavender plants with a talk and demonstration of harvesting and preparation of the dried flowers. The main lavender fields flower from mid November to end of January with the harvesting beginning in December.
Yuulong Lavender Estate is an ideal place to stop and enjoy a relaxing day in a rural environment away from the city. Please check out their website for more information or call their friendly staff.
