Gunnedah's Poets Precinct offers a tribute to famous poet Dorothea Mackellar, with a bronze statue paying homage at the centre of the area.
Across South Street, in ANZAC Park, the Mackellar Centre displays 32 watercolour paintings forming the unique Jean Isherwood 'My Country' collection. Founder of the Dorothea Mackellar Memorial Society, the late Mikie Maas is remembered through the distinctive Maas Walk to the statue.
Numerous war memorials are found in the precinct – Eighth Division Memorial Avenue, Remembrance Grove and the spectacular murals adorning the Water Tower Museum.
Adjacent to the park is the Gunnedah War Memorial Pool Complex. Refurbished in 2018, the pool includes a 25 metre indoor heated pool, eight lane fully accessible Olympic pool, children’s water park , modern change rooms and kiosk.
The spacious grounds of ANZAC Park , the pool and Lions Hospital Park are ideally suited for family gatherings or a morning tea break on your travels....
