Enjoy this private 4wd tour through the Southern Highlands and Fitzroy Falls down to the Shoalhaven Zoo. This is a fantastic day out as you wind your way down through Kangaroo Valley and into Shoalhaven. Stop off and explore the wonderful Shoalhaven Zoo and for those a bit more daring, the Tree Tops Adventure Experience can`t be missed (additional cost). The Zoo has over 100 animal species on site and the Tree Tops Adventure will see you climbing, swinging and flying through the tree tops along side the Shoalhaven River. Morning and afternoon tea is provided with lunch available at many of our stops along the way.
Departing Sydney, head south to Wollongong following the coast to Kiama where you will stop off at the iconic blow hole. This is a naturally formed hole in the rocks, and when the swell is up it is quite a sight to see.
Continue heading south and any wine lovers have the opportunity to drop into the Coolangatta Vineyard for some wine tasting. Then, follow the Shoalhaven River to the Shoalhaven Zoo where you are treated to a behind the scenes experience with one of the keepers as well as coming face to face with baby crocodiles, koalas, kangaroos, lizards and if you are game snakes.
The Zoo holds the worlds most venomous snake, the Inland Taipan or Fierce snake (behind glass of course). In the grounds of the Zoo but run independently is the Tree Tops Adventures. The Tree Tops Adventures is a series of ropes, ladders, flying foxes, and obstacles to traverse all in the tree tops. There are courses designed for kids through to adults. If this is up your alley please contact your local tour operator to book directly as this is an extra cost and needs to be booked a couple of months in advance to ensure available positions.
Lunch is available from the onsite cafe and is very well priced. After Lunch head off to the small town of Berry where you will walk through quaint shops ranging from cafe`s to antiques or stop in at the pub for a refreshment. From here, turn inland and make your way to Kangaroo Valley to fill up on locally made chocolate and fudge.
Stop off at Fitzroy Falls and if you're lucky you may just catch a glimpse of a Platypus. Depending on how time is going you may even head for home via the Historic town of Berrima or Mittagong arriving back at your CBD hotel at approximately 5pm.
