Nestled on the shore of Australia's largest freshwater lake, Poltalloch Station is one of Australia's most historic pastoral properties. First established in 1839, John Bowman further developed it into a large thriving sheep station, whose descendents still farm beef cattle and sheep. The guided tour takes about 90 minutes, in which time you will see the heritage-listed farm village and museum, and gain a feeling of the working life on a historic station. Highlights include the Shearing Shed, General Store, Carpenter's and Blacksmith's workshops, Machinery Displays, Stables and Barn, Groom's and Buggy rooms and the Homestead front gardens. Refreshments can be served in the original shearer's quarters or guests may bring their own. Tour costs vary- please enquire direct when making a booking.
