The Doll and Bear Cottage is a doll and bear lovers delight in Scottsdale, Tasmania. Since the 1980s the owners of the Doll and Bear Cottage have been collecting unique dolls and bears, and today you can see their display of more than 300. Each one is a collector's item with its own individual story. The collection features original artist dolls and bears from around the world with childhood memorabilia and antiques, including Australia's largest collection of award-winning artist dolls by Still Life. The Doll and Bear Cottage is set in the grounds of Omar, a beautiful classic Queen Anne Federation home classified by the National Trust of Tasmania. The Cottage is also the home of Dougall, the bear, who was 'born' in South Australia and has visited Antarctica four times. He once spent 12 months there. You can see Dougall and 100s of other fascinating characters like him, at The Doll and Bear Cottage right in the centre of town. Scottsdale is 64 kilometres/40 miles from Launceston via The Sideling (Tasman Highway/Highway A3). You can also reach Scottsdale via Lilydale on the East Tamar, Karoola, Pipers Brook or Bridport.
