Rendelsham (known as the Nunnery) was the original home of Wentworth's first Mayor, William Gunn. Today you can visit the house of the first major and hear about the history it had since it was constructed.
The first house to be called Rendelsham and was built by the first Mayor of Wentworth, William Gunn.
He lived there until he built the second residence in the centre of the town, Rendelsham House, and then this house became Catholic Church property, used by the local Priest as the Presbytery.
In 1892, it became the Convent, home of the Sisters of Mercy who established and taught at the adjacent Saint Ignatius School.
